Chapter 4

"Well, how are we doing today?"
"We? Well I'm not sure I follow. Why do you ask?"
"'We' was referring to you, I'm sorry if I confused you."
"Well, you did, I didn't understand what you meant."
"Well then, how are you doing today?"
"Do you realize that each sentence in our conversation thus far has begun with the letter 'W'?"
"Why, no, I didn't think to keep track."
"See, you did it again."
"Well... Ha! Sorry, ahem. I'll try to avoid it from here on in. So how are you feeling today Hallux?"
"I feel quite a lot better, Doctor, to be honest, quite a change from the moribund state I was in last week."
"Yes, you're looking quite a bit more lively."

It's fortunate that Hallux's fever broke when it did, the doctor had been worried that when he woke, his body may not be able to take the shock.

"I suppose the only ill effect at the moment is this constant ringing in my ears. It's rather more pleasant to be able to hear, but this ringing is driving me to the brink."

Brandon? Brandon!

Hey! I went to Brandon, Manitoba for the weekend. It was pretty fun. I went to 'the mall' and found a sailor shirt for $2, played some classic rock covers for an overly appreciative (inebriated) crowd, I drank a club (beer), I went to the Keystone Center and watched some 16 year olds playing hockey, some 13 year olds riding horses and jumping them over fences, and checked out a kickin' RV/Boat show. All in all a great trip, my only disappointment.... I didn't go to Bonanza and make myself sick. Thanks Brandon, I think I like you.

Chapter 3

The dying young man stirs, slowly opens his eyes, a bead of sweat rests in the creases of his forehead. He sees lights, little else, he hears nothing. Vibrations can be felt through the wheels on his bed as people move around him. The vibrations bring awareness to his body, the awareness wipes the fog from his eyes. The light is now fading into shapes. He gazes glassy-eyed upon a glass of water resting on a cabinet across the room. A startled nurse now stands over him, she speaks hurriedly, he hears nothing, only senses her panic. The nurse notices his eyes, they seem almost darker now, a deep shade of indigo, drained of life and light. As his cognizance strengthens he attempts to speak, his voice is as useful as his ears, the sound he makes cannot be understood. He is a newborn child. The fruitless effort of speaking frightens him and his chest begins to tighten, he notices suddenly his heart beating in his ears and hands, the tension grows stronger, his anxiety grips him, the room begins to move, he slips back into sleep.

This Ain't No Chapter (From A Work Of Fiction). It's Just Stuff I Remember

"Flip It."
"Ok," I Did. "Heads, we were right again."
"Flip it again... tails."
"It's tails."

Yep, a lot of things went right for us this last week in Toronto-town. We called 6 coin flips in a row, which led to a lot of fun. We also secured the necessary 'things'(?) required to head back to Toronto-town shortly and record with Michael Wojewoda. That is going to be lotsuhfunhardwork. What else did we do.... ummmmm.... we made friends with 'Staggered Crossing'. They are an absolute wonderful bunch 'o' dudes who were so spectacularly helpful that in the process of helping us load in to our gig at the Horseshoe, load out of the gig at the Horseshoe, lend us their gear to use at the Horseshoe, have drinks with us, at the Horseshoe, they were also able to explain the true legend of Stompin' Tom at the Horseshoe ((thank you Jeremy) he apparently played the Horseshoe 30 nights in a row, slept under the stage between gigs, and ate nothing but roasted peanuts and drank nothing but jack daniels the entire time)). Michael Wojewoda also came to our show and lent us a drumkit, and his very talented ear. Vince proved to us once and for all who papa bear really is (him - see above). And our incredible hosts/chauffeurs/fans/friends/bartenders/Wendy/Larry/Charlene/Mike in the beaches once again proved that they may be the most hospitable people on earth.

So it was a great, great, great trip. We can't wait to record a new album, and... I have to get to work.
